The Mayan Region :

From Yucatan to the north to Costa Rica to the south, and also covering Belize, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, the Mayan culture was unquestionably the culture which ruled supreme over this massive area between 300 and 900 AD. Very religious and hierarchical, the Mayans left us a large number of finely painted works in polychrome terracotta showing their customs and mythologies, skilfully carved stones and jadeite and some pieces in stucco, bone or shell in addition to their great architectural achievements and glyphic writing.
